By Jeremy Wallace of the Times/Herald Tallahassee Bureau, 08/24/2016:
Gov. Rick Scott might need a refresher on Florida’s geography. During an interview on Fox News Channel, the two-term governor tried to explain to anchor Jenna Lee where the latest Zika cases have been reported.
“So yesterday we announced a case in Pinellas, which is just south of Tampa Bay. Pinellas County,” Scott said.
It’s far from the first time Scott has had issues in Pinellas County. In both his 2010 and 2014 elections, Scott lost the county in the general election. And even in the Republican Primary in 2010, Scott lost to then-Attorney General Bill McCollum.
It’s not the first times the geography of Tampa Bay had Scott stumped. During a meeting with reporters in 2011, Scott posed a few questions to members of the media. “Does the region call itself the Tampa Bay region? Is that what it calls itself? The region does?”
