Rick Scott cuts off funding to women’s health, including cancer screenings and birth control

From Orlando Sentinel‘s Gray Rohrer, 03/25/2016:

TALLAHASSEE — Planned Parenthood and other health clinics that provide abortions in Florida will go without taxpayer funds and face increased regulations for the procedure, under a bill signed Friday by Gov. Rick Scott.

Scott did not say why he signed HB 1411, which he approved with 67 other bills. But the flood of statements from pro-choice and anti-abortion groups reflected the sharp divide over the issue.

“As a result of this bill, thousands of people across Florida may no longer be able to access essential reproductive health care, such as cancer screenings, birth control, and well-woman exams,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood. “This cruel bill is designed to rip healthcare away from those most at risk.’’

  1. he is one awful person.if it doesn’t mean for himself then he doesn’t want it.people of Florida wake up.you put this man in office 2 times knowing that he was a criminal.what will it take to never see him in public office again?taking away funding for PP and from Medicare has hurt many floridans,we don’t need this selfish bastard in our lives.vate blue and get rid of him

  2. Women are not second class citizens and should not be discriminated against. This is a disgusting abuse of government. Government should have no control over what a woman does with her body. Planned Parenthood provides medical care for women in need and this program helps numerous people that can’t afford Obama care or health insurance. This should be amended and overturned. If this were women telling men they couldn’t get viagra the country would be in an uproar! Total discrimination!

  3. This is what I find so frustrating with the Gop they are pro life pro death penalty pro guns and pro war UGH

  4. No one is being denied health care, the question is, do you have a right to someonelse’s money to pay for it?
