By Kate Feldman of the New York Daily News, 09/11/2018:
Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s bus tour took to the air when the Senate candidate took a private jet to a meeting Tuesday instead of a shuttle as one would expect.
Scott was supposed to be traveling by bus as part of his “Make Washington Work” tour, which aims to “reform the dysfunctional and tired ways of thinking in Washington and make it actually work for families across the nation, not just for career politicians in D.C.,” according to his campaign website. His 10-point plan includes implementing term limits in Congress and requiring a supermajority for any tax or fee increases.
The governor’s transportation faux pas is his second in about two weeks. On Aug. 24, Scott’s campaign Twitter account promised to fight for federal funds if he’s elected to the Senate.
“Florida hasn’t received its fair share of federal transportation funding for decades,” he tweeted. “That’s wrong, and as your Senator I’ll fight to secure real results for our state.”
Except, as many quickly pointed out, Scott had rejected billions of dollars in money for a high-speed rail in 2011.
