First, Rick Scott signed a law to speed up Florida’s execution process.

From Stateline/Pew Charitable Trusts, 06/18/2013:

Scott signed a law that will speed up Florida’s execution process. The governor now must sign a death warrant within 30 days of the Supreme Court certifying that an inmate has exhausted all appeals. The execution date must be six months from the date of the warrant.

Later, though, Rick Scott postponed the execution of a condemned prisoner, because it conflicted with a campaign fundraising event.

From the Tampa Tribune, 09/24/2013:

At the attorney general’s request, Gov. Rick Scott delayed the execution of convicted murderer Marshall Lee Gore from Sept. 10 until Oct. 1. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday publicly apologized for causing the delay of an execution that was the same evening as her re-election campaign kickoff fundraiser in Tampa.
